After the forced closure due to the COVID-19 emergency, the exhibition reopens to the public from 29 May 2020 until 31 August 2020.
The exhibition, inaugurated on 8 February, is part of the project of the same name created by the Associazione Italia Langobardorum, chaired by Laura Castelletti, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Brescia, which manages the UNESCO site "Lombards in Italy. Places of power (568 - 774 CE). The value of the project and its eligibility for funding were recognized by MiBACT in L. 77/2006 "Measures of Protection and use in favour of Italian UNESCO sites".
The exhibition, created in collaboration with the Museo Omero, aims to raise awareness of the extraordinary nature and complexity of the UNESCO site via a tactile path and a varied range of fruition options to facilitate understanding and ensure that everyone has an optimal multi-sensory experience.
The exhibition contains seven three-dimensional scale models of the architectural monuments that best represent the Lombard serial site. Seven models relating to the areas where the monuments are situated will allow tactile exploration of their contexts of origin.
To make the route even more accessible, there will be audio descriptions available through NFC and QR code, as well as a catalogue in Braille and one in large print.
The free exhibition will be open to the public at the Museo Omero until 22 March 2020. It will then be hosted in the seven cities making up the UNESCO site.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 8 February at 5 pm in the presence of Laura Castelletti, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Brescia, an official from MiBACT and the president of the Museo Omero Aldo Grassini. We will also welcome administrative representatives of the Municipalities of: Cividale del Friuli, Castelseprio and Gornate Olona, Campello sul Clitunno, Spoleto, Monte Sant'Angelo and Benevento.
The Associazione Italia Langobardorum was established in 2009 by the municipalities making up the Network and is the structure that manages the site. It is a non-profit organization and is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring the actions of the network relating to the enhancement, promotion and awareness of the UNESCO site.
The serial site "The Lombards in Italy. Places of power (568-774 AD)", was registered on the World Heritage List on 25 June 2011. It includes Cividale del Friuli, Brescia, Torba-Castelseprio, Campello sul Clitunno, Spoleto, Benevento and Monte Sant'Angelo and includes the most important extant Lombard monuments in Italy, from the north to the south of the Peninsula, where the domains of the Lombard duchies extended. The monuments belonging to the Site represent the most significant or best-preserved examples of the numerous typologies found throughout the country and reflect the universality of Lombard culture at its peak.
