“Pasolini the painter” Exhibition

case

29 October 2022 to 16 April 2023.
Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Roma.

An exhibition dedicated to "Pasolini the painter" has recently opened at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome. This entirely new, exclusive, exhibition commemorates the centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975), highlighting a significant facet of the writer and director’s overall creative context which has often been overlooked by critics.

Over 150 works are on display. They have been selected from the collection of the Gabinetto Scientifico Letterario G.P. Vieusseux in Florence (depositary of the largest collection of Pasolini's works) as well as from the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, the Giuseppe Zigaina Archive, the Centro Studi Pier Paolo Pasolini in Casarsa (on show for the first time outside of Casa Colussi, Pasolini’s house from 1945-49) and from private collections.

Accessibility

Particular consideration was given to accessibility. The Museo Tattile Statale Omero of Ancona helped to create a special itinerary for people with visual disabilities. It features 6 relief drawings and an audio description of each one. Free tactile tours, guided by specialized operators, will also be available.
Complementing the exhibition will be a series of cultural meetings, readings and projections entitled "Pasoliniana. Around Pasolini the painter", curated by Silvana Cirillo and Claudio Crescentini. These provide further insights into the themes addressed in the exhibition.

The project, curated by Silvana Cirillo, Claudio Crescentini and Federica Pirani for the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome, is promoted by Roma Culture, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, the "Sapienza" Università of Rome, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, Dipartimento di Lettere e Culture moderne, the Gabinetto Scientifico Letterario G.P. Vieusseux in Florence, the Centro Studi Pier Paolo Pasolini in Casarsa della Delizia (PN) and the Fondazione Cineteca in Bologna, in collaboration with the Giuseppe Zigaina Archive. Organization by Zètema Progetto Cultura. Radio Partner - Dimension Sound Soft.
The catalogue is published by Silvana Editoriale.
