1 December, Ancona – a free hand: a tactile journey among multi-sensory works and installations

1 - 4 December 2011.
Ancona, Mole Vanvitelliana.
Inauguration 1 December 5 pm.

To celebrate International Disabled rights Day (3 December), the Museo Tattile Statale Omero proposes a 4-day multi-sensory initiative, from 1 - 4 December, 4 - 7 pm.

The first tactile map of the city of Ancona will be presented on Thursday 1 December at 5pm in the Museo Omero area of the Mole Vanvitelliana (Banchina Da Chio 28). This project was created by the Volontarie del Servizio Civile at the Museo Omero, in collaboration with l'Accademia delle Belle Arti, Macerata and enjoys the patronage of the Comune di Ancona. It offers an innovative idea centred on bringing together disability, tourism and territory, which places the city of Ancona in the forefront of the field of promoting tourism and full accessibility.
In the exhibition rooms, the tactile map will be accompanied by multi-sensory works and installations created by students from the Accademia: a journey for the hands in the artistic expressions of the younger generation who wish to render the world we live in barrier-free and thus "visible" through their art.

The map and some of the multi-sensory installations will be on show until 4 December.

Admission: free.
