Stories of waste and reuse across civilizations

The Museo Tattile Statale Omero is collaborating on the exhibition "Archeoplastica on tour: stories of waste and reuse across civilizations", a widespread exhibition project that combines the promotion of historical-artistic heritage with environmental awareness.

Following the success of the project promoted by the Civic Museums of Palazzo Pianetti, the “waste of civilizations” collected and catalogued by Enzo Summa will take center stage in a traveling exhibition. Throughout the summer, the message of sustainability from Archeoplastica will be shared across three towns in the province: Morro d'Alba, Serra San Quirico, and Sassoferrato. In autumn, the exhibition will reach Château de Mayenne in France.

The contribution of the Omero Museum

For this event, the Omero Museum is lending artifacts from its exhibition “The culture of plastic: Art, Design, Environment”, contributing significant pieces from the art section.

A dialogue is created between discarded objects and plastic artworks, encouraging reflection on the value, aesthetics, and evolving function of artificial materials over time.

A widespread exhibition and event calendar

"Archeoplastica on Tour" involves several municipalities in the province of Ancona. The first stop is Morro d'Alba. Sponsored by Techpol, the exhibition sets archaeological finds seized by authorities in dialogue with waste materials and design objects. Here is the summer calendar:

  • Morro d'Alba – May 9 to August 31
  • Serra San Quirico – June 1 to June 30
  • Sassoferrato – June 21 to July 20

In Morro d'Alba, the exhibition venues include the Auditorium of Santa Teleucania, the Museo Utensilia, and the Council Hall Art Gallery (Sala Consiliare Pinacoteca). Visits will be available on weekends, during special village events, or by appointment by contacting the Department of Culture and Tourism at +39 328 548 7491.

A network for environmental education

Through this collaboration, the Omero Museum reaffirms its commitment to accessible and sustainable culture, contributing to a broader reflection on the identity of materials, the history of objects, and their environmental and social impact.
